Curbell Medical Products, Inc.

History

Founded in 1942, Curbell, Inc., is a privately held company headquartered in Orchard Park, New York, a suburb of Buffalo. Curbell has 16 locations throughout the United States and conducts its business within two distinct companies: Curbell Plastics, Inc. and Curbell Medical, Inc.

In 1960, after making a name for itself in the plastic fabrication industry, Curbell received a request from General Electric, a Fortune 500 company – to manufacture plastic housings for wired remote controls in hospital patient rooms. At the time, General Electric was focused on introducing Healthcare grade Televisions to the Acute care market to address the serious issue of patient boredom during long stays.  In addition, they recognized the need to bring sound to the patient without sound blaring across the room from the set itself.  The Buffalo-based, family-owned company saw this as more than just another order, applying its work ethic and flair for innovation to make these units state-of-the-art, multi-functional handsets. By the end of the decade, Curbell was designing and assembling these units, now called “Pillow Speakers,” and a new division was formed – Curbell Electronics. So began a long tradition of satisfied customers and pioneering ideas.  Today, Curbell pillow speaker functionality has grown to integrate television control, Nurse Call, Interactive Entertainment, Patient Education as well as environmental control such as lighting.

Curbell Electronics is now Curbell Medical, the largest manufacturer of signaling devices and other related accessories for both the hospital and nursing home marketplaces in the United States. In addition to its own label, Curbell Medical manufactures a variety of other private label products and accessories for most of the major hospital communication system manufacturers in the United States.

Over the years, Curbell’s product line has expanded in the areas of nurse call accessories, hospital beds, televisions, fall management and patient monitoring. And our service offerings have also expanded – today, there’s no better resource than our skilled salespeople, highly trained engineers and technicians, and diligent customer service team.

Curbell Medical’s quality management system demonstrates our ability to consistently provide products that meet customer and regulatory requirements, and ensures continual improvement.

It’s been more than 50 years since Curbell Medical started leading its customers into the future, and our products, services and relationships just keep getting better.
